Spring Fever

Well, Friday marked the first day of spring. We are so happy that it is finally here. :-) Yesterday it was a beautiful 61 degrees and sunny. We took that opportunity to rake and clean out all the old leaves from last fall that blew against the house. I am sore this morning from all the raking....but it is all worth it! below is a slide show of some pictures I took. We made it a fun day...even though we were working :-)

Indiana

We went home to Indiana to see my niece get baptized. I am so glad that she made the decision to accept Jesus and live for Him. She is a very special girl (as are all my nieces) and I'm very proud of her. Also, since we brought Major with us, he was able to meet my mom's dogs; Payton (the yellow lab) and Gracey (the Shitzu). Gracey didn't really care for Major that much, but Payton liked him. :-) Major loved being outside with Payton because there was so much yard to run around in and explore!

UNO!

Last weekend we had the boys. One of their favorite games to play is UNO Attack. Of course we have our own house rules that make it even more fun, but I'll explain those later. I think that everyone ended up winning at least one round...so everyone was happy :-) Just in case you are ever at our house and want to play UNO with us, these are our house rules:

1. If someone lays a Draw 2 for you to draw and you have a draw two, you can lay down your draw 2 and the next person has to draw four...this can go on forever until the next person doesn't have a Draw 2 card.

2. Also, in regards to Draw 2, if you have a Skip or Reverse card that is the same color as the Draw 2, then you can pass the Draw 2 onto the next person (Skip) or revert it back to the play that laid the Draw 2 card (reverse).

3. If you have cards with the same number (regardless of color) you can lay them down all at once.

4. If you are caught trying to sneak a peak at your neighbors cards, then you have to draw 2 cards.

I think that is it...so there isn't too many additional rules...but you need to be aware of them if you plan on playing UNO with us! ha!

Snow day

On Saturday, Jesús decided to go outside and shovel the snow. I wasn't there, but he took these pictures since Major was having so much fun in the snow. Enjoy!

The Dog Whisperer

I was channel surfing and stumbled upon the shot on National Geographic called the Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan (http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/series/dog-whisperer). Wow! This guy is amazing! And you can really learn alot from him by just watching the show. Anyways, if you ever get a chance to watch it, I recommend it. In a tribute to the show...here is a picture of our dog Major! Ha!

These water bowls are for the bigger dogs at the office (Jesús takes him to work) but he stretches himself out so he can get water too :-)

Sorry it's been awhile!

I am up in Milwaukee doing my annual training days for the Air National Guard. It's been so busy up here since we are implementing new training software. So my eyes are so red from staring at the computer screen. And then my brain is like mush from learning the program along with training other users how to use it. But overall, it's been a really good week and we accomplished alot. I am ready to get home though...I miss Jesús and Major :-) And I just want to be home and back in my routine...

Major defends Jesús :-)

Here's a video of Major. He found a toy bowling ball and didn't know what it was...so he started barking at it.

He's doing better and better everyday. He's starting to warn us now if he needs to go outside...so that is a huge bonus! Well, I hope you enjoy the video!

Barking and Stairs

Major has learned a couple new things this past week...climbing stairs and barking. He knows how to get up the stairs...but is scared to come down. Here is a video Jesús took of him barking because he can't come down the stairs...

Major is so smart!

Major seems to be learning more and more every day. He is still biting and trying to figure out this big world via his mouth...but I understand he's a puppy so I'm tolerating it. From everything I've read, it's ok if he "feels you out" with his teeth...but when it gets to the point of hurting you are supposed to yelp really loud (ha ha) and then ignore him for a few minutes. So...we've been trying this and it seems to be working! This week he’s been good and he really knows his schedule. It’s like clockwork. Also, he is finally recognizing his name pretty well.

The boys were with us last weekend. They enjoyed their time with Major, but they were a little apprehensive playing with him since he is biting so much. Luckily, Major had his shots on Friday (Jan 30th) so he wasn't so rambunctious during the weekend.

Major

We picked up Major last Sunday. He's so adorable and we have already fell in love with him! He's been doing really well. Hardly any whining at all...only when he's in his crate and doesn't want to be. He is so playful and full of energy. Of course, after play time and after eating he is a little cuddler and just wants to be held and loved. He is able to go to work with Jesús and has been doing very well with that. He goes to the bathroom outside and has only had a few accidents while at work. At home is another story...but we are working on it! I have to give him praise though...last night he woke up twice and I took him outside. The first time (around midnight) he did both "1" and "2". Then he didn't get up again until about 5:15am and I took him outside again and he did number "1". So he's getting there! When we go outside he loves eating the snow! He doesn't like it so much on his feet, but it sure does taste good to him! ha! Here are some pictures:
